SUCCESS STORY – PC HOUSE CALL

Like a lot of small businesses, PC House Call started with nothing more than an idea, backed by a lot of enthusiasm, but not much business experience.  An entrepreneurial friend of ours recommended that we seek counseling from SCORE.

At our first appointment, we realized exactly how little we actually knew about what we were getting into - a 2-hour lesson that would have taken us a year to learn the "hard way".  We came out of that meeting feeling completely humbled (after all, we thought we knew most of the answers!), but completely energized and on track.

As an entrepreneur, your very nature dictates that you like to go it alone – to find your own answers.  While these are commendable traits, it means that you'll be re-inventing the wheel time and time again.  SCORE  can save you from having to do just that, and in turn will save two of your most precious resources; time and money.

Our counselors (Jerry McMahan and Tom Aschenbrenner) were a perfect fit for our company.  They were knowledgeable and encouraging, but refrained from sugar-coating anything for us.  With each session, we focused on new topics and set new goals.  At follow-up sessions, we reviewed those goals, and set new ones, each time bringing our growing company to a new plateau.

SCORE. played an instrumental role in growing our "idea" into a 15 person, $1 million company.  I'd recommend SCORE to anyone considering starting a company, or already running one.  My only regret?  I wish we'd found them sooner.
